In this class we’ll make the ever-functional zippered travel pouch which you can use to store your toiletries when you travel, your odds & ends in your purse and everything else under the sun. This is an interesting class in that you’ll be using Pellon gridded interfacing (#831/onpoint) to use as a template for this table runner. The secret behind the interfacing is your points turn out beautifully every time—precise and crisp. Wonderful to make as holiday gifts (I only made 8 this Christmas for gifts), this table runner is perfect for the holidays and easily adapted to any time of the season.

This seasonal class teaches you a very easy quilt that you can either use as a table topper or put a hanging sleeve on the back and hang it on the wall. A great class to use your stash fabric and you’ll also use your free-motion quilting skills to get a great effect. I’ll also teach you a wonderful method to apply your binding and join the ends flawlessly. A great skill-building class for a project just in time for the holiday!

This is a marvelous class where you’ll learn how to create a beautiful and functional purse using strips of gorgeous fabric that you’ve weaved to create a boxed-affect. This isn’t difficult sewing, but because there’s a bunch of repetitive work, there is a fair amount of pre-work you need to do to help keep the class from being too long. Once you’ve done your strips, you’ll weave them in class and begin to cut them down to create the panels of your bag. We’ll insert a lovely zipper to hold your more important items (phone?) and we’ll learn how to make really cool handles using a commonly found item at Lowes of all places! Plenty of pockets on the inside to store your stuff. Not a difficult class, but a bit time consuming, but the results are drop-dead gorgeous.

This is a wonderful class to use your stash fabric and create a placemat out of two fabrics that miter at the corners. Fabulous opportunity to showcase your embroidery skills should you have an embroidery machine and make Holiday gifts which will be sure to be treasured. This miter technique is applicable to many projects—valences for a window, the jacket facing on a jacket and so on. A terrific skill to learn and continue to use throughout your sewing life.

This is such a unique bowl where we’ll sew strips of fabric into a panel and create a bowl. It’s a great opportunity to use your stash fabric and it’s so simple to make. Wonderful for baby supplies, in the guest bathroom for towels & toiletries, great for toys in the kid’s room. The possibilities are endless and the bowl is simply lovely. You’ll even learn how to make your own buttons using Skulpy Polymer Clay which we’ll roll out and make buttons—how cool is that! What a great and useful bowl of which I’m sure you’ll really enjoy.

As we head into the summer season, take a look at the cushions on your chairs and you’ll likely see they’re in need of some help. Weather, particularly here, can be brutal on your cushions, so why not make a new set? This class will teach you the ins and outs of making custom cushions beginning with selecting the right foam, where to get your foam and how to measure your cushion. We’ll learn zipper insertion as well as cording for your cushions. Terrific skills class and making them yourself will save you a ton of money!

If you’ve ever priced out designer pillows you’d be amazed at the cost. As with the box cushion, you can make stunning designer pillows at a fraction of custom-made. I’ll teach you how to select your pillow insert and we’ll teach in depth how to insert a beautiful zipper, how to cover cording and design ideas to really create a beautiful pillow. At the end of this class, you’ll walk away with a pillow every bit as lovely and detailed as designer—for a fraction of the cost!

This is normally about a 3-4 hour class session where we’ll learn how to concentrate on some very important sewing basics: How to sew an invisible zipper using the zipper foot which comes with your machine and also using an invisible zipper foot which is an additional add-on to your machine. We’ll also learn how to do a fly-front zipper you’d normally see in jeans and trousers as well as learn another technique on how to insert a lovely waistband

This class will continue exploring some excellent basic sewing skills. We’ll first learn how to do a lovely bound buttonhole that you would see in very high-end ready-to-wear garments. We’ll actually make two different kinds of bound buttonholes—the normal rectangular and an Indian Head-shaped buttonhole. Adding to that, you’ll learn how to take that buttonhole technique and add a pocket to create a lovely welt pocket that you would see on a beautiful jacket. These are wonderful techniques to use when you’re making a jacket or coat or need a very special buttonhole for a garment.
